Literacy: scanning to find facts

We started by reading page 20 in the Literacy World non-fiction book. We found some WOW words and we matched them with their correct meanings.

We then went on to read carefully, to find out whether the statements on the board were true or false. We found that all of them were true except for the second one, which is the opposite of the truth. The training weapons were heavier than the real ones, to make the soldiers extra fit.

At home, please do the sheet I gave you, called Can You Scan? Scan page 20 to find the key word for each question, and then look around the key word to find the answer. Do not copy blocks of text from the book. Try to use your own words as much as possible, to show understanding. Enjoy doing your homework.
