Maths: measuring area

Today we moved on to area. Area means the amount of flat space inside a shape. We can talk about the area of a floor, or the area of a whiteboard. We measure area in square centimetres. On the board above you can see how we write square centimetres, and how we can find area quickly without having to count every square. To find the area quickly we can count the length and the width of the rectangle and multiply them together.
