Literacy: speech marks

This morning we looked at speech marks in sentences. We followed these very simple rules:

  1. Words that are spoken must go inside speech marks.

  2. Other punctuation marks (commas, question marks etc.) always go before speech marks.

  3. Speech marks in the middle of a sentence must have other punctuation marks before them.

The rules apply to all the examples on the board above.
