Literacy: writing newspaper reports

This afternoon we looked at several newspaper reports. They are made from well-known stories. The first one (above) is based on the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. The story is on the left side of the board. The newspaper report is on the right. What differences can you see?

The next newspaper report is based on Little Red Riding Hood. I chose just one part of the story - when the wolf eats the grandmother - and I made it into a newspaper report.

The third newspaper report is based on the story of the Sleeping Beauty. The princess sleeps for a hundred years, so I thought she might have missed 100 years of school and I wrote a newspaper report about that.

At home, please think of a story that you know very well. Think of ONE PART of the story that would make a good newspaper report. Think of a good headline, and write the headline in your literacy book. Use capital letters, and make each letter big so that the headline takes up two lines. We will write the rest of the newspaper report in school tomorrow. Enjoy thinking of your headline.
